Green River Vermont

Print size is 7 1/4 inches x 5 1/2 inches.

This is the fifth try at photographing this scene.  I was familiar with this location for a long time and had the occasion to photograph it at other times of the year. After many tries of photographing it with snow on the ground, I realized the best time would be right after a snowstorm.  It snowed hard that winter so I had plenty of opportunities.  After printing this image I realized it was a good spot to use at other times of the year, so I went back with the print to find the location.  I then remembered that this photograph was taken when I was standing on a bank of plowed snow 4 feet off the road's surface and 4 feet from the side of the road.  At any other time of the year it was a deep gully full of black berry brambles, I realized I would need a cherry picker to reproduce it.  I do remember that when I took this photograph I took a few steps toward the gate and found myself swimming in snow.

The true impact, statement, and artistic value of the photograph is lost in the process of making the photograph web friendly. The only way to really appreciate fine artwork is to see the real thing. All work shown on this site is for sale and comes with a 30 day return policy.
